The Sports and Recreation Committee is constantly looking for local Muslim boys interested in hockey and to train them so that they can have proper activities after school and during holidays.
The aim of the activity is to train the boys discipline in team work and promote the Islamic brotherhood.
A total of ten boys aged between 10 years old and 14 years old, of which, eight of the boys are studying Quran in Masjid Ammar and Osman Ramju Sadick Centre.
The first session under the guidance of some senior players of the Islamic Union Hockey team, including Bro. Jaffar Hussain and the captain, Mohamed Tanveer, was held at the Boundary Street Sport Gound on a Sunday morning. More trainings are planned for the youngsters.
On 13 September, the IU team played its first league match and won by 3:0.
