At the time when Prophet Muhammad (saw) honored Medina with his presence, there were two Eids being celebrated there. In those days, there were games and celebrations. The Prophet (saw), who witnessed these, said: “Almighty Allah has allotted the Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha as more blessed than these two festivals.

Among other blessings, fasting brings enormous economic benefits for the Muslim community. During the month of Ramadhan, the rich people very generously on the poor to win the pleasure of Allah. Their generosity and charity enable the poor section of the community to receive sufficient funds during this month to meet their needs for at least a part of the year.

A Muslim does not eat, drink or smoke and undergoes a severe and rigorous discipline during the month of fasting because of his faith in Allah, and for His love and for fear of His punishment. This continues rigorous discipline strengthens one’s faith in Allah and makes one sincere, faithful and obedient to His command.
